Rome Architecture Parks & Museums

Recently one of my close friends went on a tour of the European countries, but the city that appealed the most to this friend of mine was definitely The Caput mundi or the capital of the world or more precisely the city of Rome. The city is one of the very few European cities that was unscathed by the Second World War. cities  History of Rome goes a long way back up to the 753 B.C when according to a legend the twins Remus and Romulus, although archeological surveys have revealed that Rome actually grew from pastoral settlements based on the Palatine Hill. This small settlement gradually grew up into what the world came to know as the mighty Rome, the city of Rome grew in power and esteem and reached its peak when it was the capital of the Roman Empire. In its glorious days Rome was the largest, richest and the most influential city in the western world and it still remains the cultural capital of world. The city of Rome has been home to some of the most famous European sculptors and architects who left their marks on this city.

The city of Rome is known for its beautiful architecture and its architecture reflects the blend of western and eastern cultures that go onto show that this city was a melting pot of different cultures throughout the ages.

If you somehow happen to be in this city here are few of the must see architectural specimens of Rome.

The center of this city is surrounded by some large gardens and some of the still standing opulent villas that once used to surround the whole city. Some of the well known villas and gardens in this city include the Villa Borghese that also features a large landscaped garden built according to the 19th century English gardens, besides the area also features museums and art galleries like galleria borghese.

Other beautiful villas include the Villa Ada, which is the largest landscaped park in Rome, the Villa Doria Pamphili, Villa Torlonia,is one of the finest specimen of Art Nouveau Mansion and used to be the residence of Mussolini. The Villa Albani was commissioned by the famous Alessandro Cardinal Albani to house his entire collection of antiquities and roman sculpture.

Besides these exquisite villas and gardens this city also has several art museums that project different architectural styles.

The name that first comes to the mind is the national Museum of Rome, other museums in this famous city include the Capitoline Museums that are a group of art and archaeological museums in Pizza Del Campidoglio, situated on top of the famous Capitoline Hill in Rome.

This city boasts of some of the biggest museums in the western world, that flaunt some of the rarest antiquities from around the world that draws a huge number of tourists every year. This wonderful city captivates the imagination of the art lovers with its collection of famous artworks.
